Verdict. Lever's single candidate record for both prospects and applicants is still a clever design; the product has lost momentum since its acquisition by Employ, but it works well for teams that nurture talent pools.

Best for: teams that want ATS and CRM in one record.

Lever's original idea was that a candidate should not become a different object when they move from 'sourced' to 'applied'. The result, LeverTRM, is a talent relationship management tool with the ATS built in. Nurture campaigns, sourcing pipelines and requisition-based hiring live in one place.

Since becoming part of Employ (alongside Jobvite and JazzHR) the pace of new features has slowed, and some long-time customers have moved to Ashby or Greenhouse. The core workflow remains solid and the pricing is comparable to Greenhouse.

Pros and cons

Unified candidate record across sourcing and hiring
Built-in nurture and campaign features
Clean, approachable interface for hiring managers
Fewer new releases than its competitors
Reporting lags Ashby
